Getting floored

This may be silly but I have been dreaming about my next flooring for literal years. Maybe 10 years ago I found an LVP line I loved. Went to the flooring store and fell in love. It was cork backed, steam moppable, a beautiful color and soft to step on.  It looked ultra realistic with knots embossed and everything.  It was my perfect floor.  As we got closer to the build and I realized how much our allowance for flooring was, I went back to flooring stores to get the dream floor priced.

To my dismay, the entire line of steam moppable luxury Vinyl Planks was discontinued by Coretec and it was time to restart the search. Could anything be as perfect as the Ludlow Oak to me?

Whatever it was it had to be both waterproof and steam moppable as this is our preferred sanitation method without chemicals. It had to be a neutral or slightly warm brown. It could not looked bleached out. It needed texture that matched the grain. Okay, so I’m kinda picky.

Maegan and I went to several stores. I drug my bestie to more to confirm my choice. We drug the flooring samples to the cabinet store and the cabinet door to floor stores.

We were intrigued by a floor by Karastan. The salesman told us it was his favorite floor and felt it met our needs. It was called Lodge Hickory.

When we brought it around, we decided it had too much striating and color variation for us. They we came upon the Spiced Cider Walnut in the same line. We tried it with our other choices and believe we have found the flooring that fits our needs.

Here is the Lodge Hickory to the left and Spiced Cider Walnut to the right with our secondary cabinet color on the door. Our primary cabinet is the white and the darker wood is the accent color for kitchen cabinets we think.  Spiced Cider has some variation but less striation which we feel is less busy. Of course we won’t order until we can bring the samples into our actual home and see in that lighting.
Trying in our actual home-yep! That is getting closer than we imagined! That’s why you’ll see more posts as we try to catch up to real time! Very exciting things happening with our build!

Stay tuned as we used to say.
