Confusing the cabinet folks

Ever walked into a store and explained what you are seeking to have the sales folks need to see pictures?  Unfitted what?  Not matching?

So many times I walked through a showroom not seeing anything like I wanted our kitchen to be. I got to the point of saying “I don’t want a today kitchen. I want what your great grandmother would have had.”

The builder recommended a few of their typical installers, but we didn’t find any that were still offering inset cabinets with exposed hinges.

We shopped around on our own and finally found USA Cabinets who could offer both in their Showplace line. That sounded about right as our kitchen hopefully will not only be a functional space, but also a Showplace.

We will be using different brands for the laundry room, breakfast room and kitchenette to help with budget a bit.

We have met with Ismael several times to get rough pricing, pick doors and colors. He let us borrow some samples to drive around to the flooring stores and the paint shops. Tomorrow, we are going back for one final time to confirm everything before ordering.

The goal is to have a kitchen that looks more collected than installed. A bit more mix and match then you would see today.  I think it will be exactly as I have envisioned and we are closer to the reality than I expected.

Stay tuned 😀
