Considering our needs

Unfortunately for all of us living in our future home, it was mostly designed by me....a pharmacist, so we will see how it goes, but I did multiple iterations over years and then took it to builders, designers, architect and engineer. I am fairly confident it will meet our needs.

Here is how we got where we are and will be.

  1. We wrote down specific needs for each family member.
  2. We thought about current state and future state.
  3. We measured our bodies.
  4. We measured our current space.
  5. I found a plan I liked and modified it.
  6. I mocked up the plans in a semi-user friendly AutoCAD program and added current furniture to scale.
  7. We drew out traffic patterns in the space.
  8. We scaled back as much as we could for budget.
  9. We designed for our taste not current fads and what others preferred.
  10. I made a Pinterest Board and One Note Notebook for organization

Main objectives:

  1. Age in Place/ADA-ish/accessible
  2. Folk Victorian style
  3. More closed than open layout
  4. Plenty of storage
  5. Made sense on the lot
  6. Space for our hobbies
  7. Comfortable for another pandemic/work from home
